Today’s class was very interesting. It was exciting learning that we are going to be spending quality time in the classroom working with students. I am very eager to get started. Maxime was a very animated individual. He immediately the students’ attention from the moment he walked into the classroom. The students responded very well to him and his wild energy. I can’t wait to see Ryan and Kristi’s performance of “The Generals” next week.

Wow today was such a rush. It was great watching Ryan and Kristi perform for the students. It was great to see the student’s reactions to them and the poem. I was very surprised that we were able to work in small groups with the students today. Ms. Evans students were so adorable. I couldn’t believe how excited they were to act out “The Generals”. Watching them was the very best part of the whole day.
Ms. Martin’s students were so sweet too. I was able to work with two girls today. One was shy but she still had fun working with us. I think next week is going to be a lot of fun.

As we begin introducing new poems to the student’s in Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Martins classes. They are really opening up to us. Especially in Mrs. Evans class. It is getting very exciting. Serena seems very excited about doing the Abigail poem with me. She is such a sweetheart. She is a bit shy about saying her lines and acting out her part. However I think that as we practice more she will begin to break of her shyness. I am so excited to see what other poems we are going to share with the students.

Yikes!!! The clock is ticking and we are running out of time to teach new poems to the students and have them memorize them. I am a bit nervous as to how this will all work out. I hope that the students will have enough time to learn the new poems we introduced today before the performance. However I think I lucked out with “Lazy Jane” It is a very easy poem to memorize and therefore is an easy one to coach. Eric did extremely well today. He had all the Lines memorized before we ended today. I was so proud of him. He is going to do such a great job on the 15th.

Serena was ready today to show off her memorization skills. Mrs. Evans had allowed the students time during the week to work on their lines. The outcome was wonderful. All the students seemed very prepared today. I was worried that the students weren’t going to have enough time to memorize their lines. However many of them had memorized most of their poems. It was very impressive.
Eric worked very well today. He even performed for his fellow classmates. I am very glad to see him engaging in the activity. He didn’t want to participate at all when we started but after talking to him he has really come around. He has so much potential he just needs the opportunity to shine.

Today was the BIG DAY!! And a Big Day it was. The performance went GREAT!! The Heights students were on their A game today. They all did a wonderful job of performing their poems and filling in for those students who were absent. The Mesa Verde students and teachers absolutely loved the show. It was so much fun watching each group perform. They felt such joy when the audience laughed at their silly performances and that made them act out with even more enthusiasm.
It was so exciting being a part of this day. I am so glad that I was able to work with these students and coach them through the poems they chose. This has been a very enlightening experience. I hope to use some of the techniques we learned in this class to create presentations in my future classroom.
