Final Reflection
As the semester comes to a close and I take the time to reflect on my experiences from this course, I am relieved that it is over. This course has been a great challenge and such an eye opening experience. I have enjoyed working with students in the middle school and watching them perform for the elementary students. This unique opportunity helped give an idea of what it will be like when working with students in my own classroom one day.
While the second half of the course was less hand on with students is was very informative. WE were fortunate to hear from several amazing guest speakers, and explore our local public library and its excellent resources for educators.
The book list is something that I wasn’t very excited about doing. As a single mother it is hard to find time to read one book for pleasure let alone 100 books as a requirement. However I endured and was able to accomplish the goal. I am very happy that I was able to get some reading in during such a hectic semester and realize that reading is important enough to make time for.
Reading is a vital component to a quality education. As an educator it is important to me to always provide my future students with all the tools they will need to be a successful adults. Through great books one can be sure to reach a variety of different learning styles and interests.
All in all this class has been useful and informative. I have attained many valuable resources and learned valuable lessons. For these things I am grateful and will surely be a better educator because of them.
